After a near nine month hiatus, NWF returned with a stellar matchup for the Cruiserweight championship, as Sami Zayn defended against TJ Perkins. Starting out with a tie-up, Zayn was quick to ground Perkins - who soon countered into a roll-up.
Zayn just kicked out before the three, and realised just how close he had come to losing the title he has held for nearly a year. Perkins rushed Zayn, who dropped him to the outside with a back body drop. TJP stumbled back to his feet...
...Just as Zayn came flying over the top rope! Zayn quickly got the challenger back into the ring, and went for the Helluva kick, but Perkins got out of dodge - leaving Zayn to crotch himself on the top rope.
As Zayn fell to the canvas, Perkins seized his opportunity by locking in the knee bar. Zayn scratched and clawed towards the ropes, but Perkins was in control, forcing Zayn to tap out.
The crowd erupted as Perkins was announced as the NEW Cruiserweight champion. Although downhearted by the loss of his title, Zayn showed true class by shaking hands with Perkins and raising his arm in victory.
